Episode 40 - Casual Cattle Conversations - Shaye Koester-Wanner

Episode 39 - NCBA Update - Trisha Glassinger - RAAA Communications

Episode 38 - RAAA Education Capstone - George Murdock

This week on "Red Angus Remarks", we finish our series focusing on the Educational efforts of the Red Angus Association.  We are fortunate to hear from George Murdock, whom current is a RAAA Board Member and chairs the RAAA Education Committee.  Along with being heavily involved in the cattle industry in the Pacific Northwest, George spent his career in the publishing and educational sectors serving as a Newspaper Editor and School Superintendent.  George shares his thoughts on the importance and role of Education with the beef industry and more specifically the Red Angus breed.  

Episode 37 - Learn From The Best #2 - Jake Harms and Brian Lance

Episode 36 - Learn From The Best - Asia Haack and Kolby Shannon

Continuing on into the exploration of RAAA's Educational Activities, we begin our first of two interviews with Learn From The Best Alumni.  On this episode, we hear from Asia Haack of Haack Red Angus and Kolby Shannon of Carrizo Creek Cattle Company.  Asia and Kolby provide a brief personal background on themselves and their operations.  The discussion then transitions to speaking about their Learn From The Best experiences, including how they learned about the opportunity, the structure of the program, and their key highlights and takeaways. On this week's episode of "Red Angus Remarks", we begin a short series focusing on the RAAA's Educational Programs and Outreach.  Dr. Kim Heller, RAAA's Director of Education, joins us today to provide an overview of all efforts the Association engages in to help educate its members and stakeholders to make improvements in themselves and operations to help stay at the forefront of the Beef Industry.  From Webinars to Programs/Workshops to Junior Activities, the Red Angus breed has educational opportunities that will benefit anyone and everyone!

Episode 34 - Winter Nutrition - Dr. Phillip Lancaster - Kansas State University

Taking a brief break from a structured series and in light of recent cold weather, we wanted to highlight the importance of winter time nutrition for beef cattle operations.  On this episode, Taylor is joined by Dr. Phillip Lancaster of Kansas State University to discuss winter time needs.  Nutrition and mineral planning may be on the back burner for some during the winter months, with calving season beginning to ramp up for many. However, winter nutrition is vital for success during the spring and summer months.  Listen in to hear some insightful knowledge!

Episode 33 - Cattlemen's Congress Update and Herdsman of the Year - Tony Tolar

Taylor is solo on this week's update for Red Angus Remarks.  Taylor gives a recap of the events at Cattlemen's Congress including show results for the Red Angus breed, sale highlights including results of the inaugural Commercial Female Sale , and other takeaways from the event.  In the last half of the episode, Taylor speaks with Tony Tolar of Sandridge Land and Cattle, whom was elected the 2024 RAAA Herdsman of the Year, which was announced at the 2025 Cattlemen's Congress.

Episode 32 - Genetics and Genomics Episode 5 - Bieber Igenity - Craig Bieber and John Price

On the final episode of the Genetics and Genomics series, Cory and Taylor visit with John Price of Price Ranch (Deer Trail, CO) and Craig Bieber of Bieber Red Angus (Leola, SD).  Craig and John offer a very in depth view of Bieber Igenity, which utilizes Igenity Beef as a testing platform to help Bieber Red Angus commercial customers evaluate genetics in their operation and aid in bull buying decisions.  John and his family have seen significant progress in their operation through the utilization of Bieber Igenity.  Listen in to this fantastic discussion and learn about the application of concepts that we have discussed throughout this series focusing on Genetics and Genomics in the beef cattle industry.  
Additionally, we did want to highlight and congratulate John and his family, as Price Ranch was selected as 2024 Commercial Producer of the Year at the RAAA National Convention in September 2024.

Episode 31 - OKC Outlook and Fall Bull Sale Recap - Taylor and Cory

Listen in to this week's Association Update with Taylor and Cory.  Taylor gives an overview what is happening this week in Oklahoma City at Cattlemen's Congress, including the Inaugural Cattlemen's Congress Commercial Female Sale set to occur on January 9th.  The sale will include lots of commercial Red Angus females of various classes.  Cory then provides a brief update on the Fall 2024 sale season and comparing what was seen to 2023.  Finally, we are excited to announce a webinar that RAAA will be co-hosting with Neogen focusing on the Igenity Beef product that we have discussed numerous times throughout the "Genetics and Genomics" series.  The webinar will occur on Tuesday, January 21st at 7pm CST.  Be on the lookout for further information on this event.
