This week, Cory and Taylor introduce the newly formed GridMaster Challenge!  The Red Angus GridMaster Challenge (GMC) was created by the RAAA Marketing Team as an educational opportunity for Red Angus members and commercial producers.  Participants will have firsthand opportunities to learn about the fed cattle sector of the beef industry and learn more about their herd’s performance and carcass genetics.  Additionally, producers will be exposed to the various tools available through the Association and in the industry to help benchmark and make improvements in their herd, including carcass ultrasounding, Igenity Beef, and feet and leg scoring.  The Challenge will be hosted by the Tri-County Steer Carcass Futurity (TCSCF) with the host yard being Nilan Feedyard of Oakland, IA.  The enrollment deadline is November 15th, 2025.  For further information, please visit the link below or reach out directly to Taylor or Cory.

At this year's annual RAAA National Convention, Taylor and Cory hosted the capstone discussion for this year's Learn from the Best class, which consisted of a panel discussion including Sam Twedt, Kyley DeVoe, and Jesse Weber.  Sam Twedt (Twedt Red Angus) and Jesse Weber (Weber Land and Cattle) are both winners of the RAAA Seedstock Producer of the Year award within the last three years, while Kyley DeVoe (3K Land and Cattle) was the outgoing RAAA President.  Questions were submitted prior to the event by participants and were asked to the panel during the discussion.  Attendees also had the opportunity to ask additional questions throughout the discussion.  Questions varied from most impactful mentors and seedstock animals, trends within the breed, how to become involved in the Association, and many more.  To learn more about Learn from the Best or to listen to prior Learn from the Best content on the podcast, please follow the links below.

On this week's episode, Cory has a discussion with Bryan Gill, Red Angus breeder and volume commercial buyer of Red Angus feeder calves, to get his thoughts on the run seen through the Summer Video Sale season and outlook going into the fall.  Many know the market only strengthened through the summer, as Bryan highlights in our discussion.  We also discuss different opportunities that exist to help protect value in these strong markets.  Another common theme discussed in the podcast is the trend in shorter sales and less cattle available out in the country.  This episode came out a week after Convention, if there was any more questions on Breedr, please reach out directly to Taylor or Cory.

On this episode, Taylor sits down with AJ Knowles, RAAA Director of Breed of Improvement, to discuss his recent travels to Buenos Aires, Argentina.  AJ had the opportunity to accompany a group from the US to visit South America during Palermo.  AJ gives his insights to the event, other tour stops, and differences in how Angus cattle are viewed and bred globally.

On this week's episode, we hear from Ian Wheal, Founder and CEO of Breedr.  Just recently, RAAA and Breedr announced a collaborative effort to help promote marketing opportunities and supply chain access for animals enrolled in RAAA's Angus Access and Allied Access programs.  Breedr is Ag Technology based company with a presence in all sectors of the Beef Industry.  Listen to this podcast to learn more about Breedr, the opportunities that exist for Red Angus producers through Breedr, and how these opportunities may provide feedback to operations how cattle performance. On this week's episode, we have the privilege of hearing from Halla Ramsey, RAAA Director of Operations, and Kaitlyn Fulmer, Registrations Team Lead.  They provide an in-depth look into RAAA's upcoming National Convention, set to be held in Loveland, CO from September 9th-11th.  Much like last year, the first day of Convention is full of activities, including the 2nd Annual RASF Golf Tournament and Dummy Roping Events.  Wednesday belongs to the commercial side of the breed, with Commercial Cattlemen's Symposium set to commence.  In the evening, the annual RASF Fundraiser and Auction will occur, this will include the annual Pick-of-the-Herd.  This was generously donated this year by Scott and Kim Ford of Cross Diamond Cattle Company.  Thursday will be the Association business day, where attendees where will hear from Keynote Speaker Dr. Charley Martinez, Halla will deliver the State of the Association, and the final Presidential Address from departing RAAA president Kyley DeVoe.  To close out convention, Regional Caucus Breakouts and Board Elections will occur in the afternoon.  For anyone wishing to learn more about the Red Angus Stakeholders' Foundation, you are encouraged to attend a RASF Meeting scheduled on Friday morning.  Please follow the link below to learn more about Convention!  We hope to see you in Loveland!
