Taking a brief break from a structured series and in light of recent cold weather, we wanted to highlight the importance of winter time nutrition for beef cattle operations.  On this episode, Taylor is joined by Dr. Phillip Lancaster of Kansas State University to discuss winter time needs.  Nutrition and mineral planning may be on the back burner for some during the winter months, with calving season beginning to ramp up for many. However, winter nutrition is vital for success during the spring and summer months.  Listen in to hear some insightful knowledge!

Taylor is solo on this week's update for Red Angus Remarks.  Taylor gives a recap of the events at Cattlemen's Congress including show results for the Red Angus breed, sale highlights including results of the inaugural Commercial Female Sale , and other takeaways from the event.  In the last half of the episode, Taylor speaks with Tony Tolar of Sandridge Land and Cattle, whom was elected the 2024 RAAA Herdsman of the Year, which was announced at the 2025 Cattlemen's Congress.

On the final episode of the Genetics and Genomics series, Cory and Taylor visit with John Price of Price Ranch (Deer Trail, CO) and Craig Bieber of Bieber Red Angus (Leola, SD).  Craig and John offer a very in depth view of Bieber Igenity, which utilizes Igenity Beef as a testing platform to help Bieber Red Angus commercial customers evaluate genetics in their operation and aid in bull buying decisions.  John and his family have seen significant progress in their operation through the utilization of Bieber Igenity.  Listen in to this fantastic discussion and learn about the application of concepts that we have discussed throughout this series focusing on Genetics and Genomics in the beef cattle industry.  
Additionally, we did want to highlight and congratulate John and his family, as Price Ranch was selected as 2024 Commercial Producer of the Year at the RAAA National Convention in September 2024.

Listen in to this week's Association Update with Taylor and Cory.  Taylor gives an overview what is happening this week in Oklahoma City at Cattlemen's Congress, including the Inaugural Cattlemen's Congress Commercial Female Sale set to occur on January 9th.  The sale will include lots of commercial Red Angus females of various classes.  Cory then provides a brief update on the Fall 2024 sale season and comparing what was seen to 2023.  Finally, we are excited to announce a webinar that RAAA will be co-hosting with Neogen focusing on the Igenity Beef product that we have discussed numerous times throughout the "Genetics and Genomics" series.  The webinar will occur on Tuesday, January 21st at 7pm CST.  Be on the lookout for further information on this event.

Merry Christmas to all our listeners!  On this episode, Taylor and Cory visit with Bryan Gill, the RAAA Marketing Committee Chair, to recap the fall marketing season and discuss the outlook for feeder cattle and replacement females going into next spring.  A majority of the discussion focuses on trends observed in the central portions of the United States.  Prices were very strong this fall, with Red Angus feeder cattle being in high demand.  Take a listen to get Bryan's view points for this spring!  All classes of replacement females held strong or were higher than last year, with no indications appearing for that to change on the horizon as long as moisture is in the extended forecast.  For any inquiries or feedback, please reach out to us at podcast@redangus.org.

This marks the third episode in the "Genetics and Genomics" series where Taylor and Cory have a conversation with Bobby Strecker of ABS Global.  Bobby is a District Sales Manager for ABS Global covering Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska.  Within this episode, we discuss establishing a designed breeding plan and utilizing sire selection practices to help achieve a desired outcome.  Bobby and his team work closely with commercial producers to help ensure a successful outcome for any breeding strategy.  Taylor and Bobby also have an extensive livestock evaluation background and spend time discussing terminology and points to look for when evaluating bulls phenotypically when making bull-buying or breeding decisions.  For further information regarding any topics discussed in this episode, please reach out to Cory and Taylor at podcast@redangus.org
